Once again Heather leaves us on the seat of our pants as we read this one. We sit there hoping that Sam can save Alex and Alex will remember he loves Sam. We sit there hoping that his friends will forgive him for the things that he could not control.You get yourself wrapped up in everyone's feelings and you find yourself needing some Kleenex because you love the idea of Sam and Alex and you want everything fixed. Hell you want to jump into the book and try to fix it.
All the way through the book you fight with yourself as to who's side you want to be on because you are fighting your own battle of right and wrong. Not knowing who you want to win.
Then you get towards the ending you start to cry and yell and then you get happy and sad. Your emotions are all over the place and once again and you just want the next book to come out.

So, just as I had hoped, the excitement returns in book 3, Esperance. Sam is really immersing herself in this new world and taking on new challenges, and that's exactly what I wanted to see.
Sometimes I think it's hard to write a review when the books are coming out so quickly in succession. I don't want to give away any spoilers, yet at this point, I'm 3 books in. Sam is a character that I am really enjoying, and I know quite a few of my readers would too. She takes chances, certainly more than the previous version of herself did. She is learning to handle her magic quite well, and even takes on healing some ill wolves.
And as for Alex, it's interesting to see him as this new version of himself. It's hard to explain. He doesn't feel anything, and as acts as such. But in the process he does things that damage my view of him, so now, as it turns out, I don't feel anything - for him. In fact, there are quite a few points in this book where I think I called Alex some pretty bad names. But hey, that means that Hildenbrand did a good job conveying what he's going through. But man... yeah. Jerk. And that's putting it nicely. I don't care if it's his fault or not.
The whole issue of ill wolves is coming to a head, and we are learning more and more. I'm quite interested to see how it all turns out, and the roads taken to get there. Esperance was exciting and intriguing, it hit on all the points that I had hoped it would. If you like werewolves and witches, I would definitely say this would be a good series to try out. Definitely not a series you could pick up midway through. Do yourself a favor and start at the beginning, but you will definitely enjoy it.
Ok, this series has definitely pulled me in and has me on the edge of my seat! There is no way to read it without. Sing immersed in the lives of all the characters. So well written... Need a new read? This is a must!
This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! So much so that I had to one-click the next one immediately. I can't wait to find out what happens with Sam and Alex!!
I received Esperance free, from Ms. Hildenbrand, for an honest review. I love the way this book follows exactly from the end of Inheritance, and the continuity is there. I love Alex, Sam, and all of the characters, and the adventures they have. It's fun to see how Sam handles her situations, with her magic, and learning from the people around her.
I have read every book Heather has written and this by far is the best written one. The detail is so well written. No spoilers so I'll write it this way. I'm a visual person when I read and when xxxxx was practicing magic it was like I was right there watching and feeling everything xxxxx felt in my head. The love hate relationship is agonizing and frustrating. But I know it will be wonderfully fixed.
If the next book is an indication of Heathers continued growth as a writer, Hang on folks, it will be EPIC.
Heather Hildenbrand really out did herself with this book in the series. The first 2 were great but this one really made you not want to put it down. I love how strong Sam is, i would literally be in tears if i was in her shoes through most of this bull. Alex, i wanted to mostly throat punch him for being such a crappy boyfriend and friend, of course he had his reasons but he was kind of an ass in the first two! Her writing always flows so well and doesn't leave you feeling like you missed something. This book definitely captures her writing ability and shows her very creative side. Can't wait to get the last book!
OK... Where do I even begin? Esperance is heart stoppingly amazing. There were several times while reading this book that I swear I was having a heart attack. Esperance took a turn that I never saw coming. While I do not agree with what happened, I know that it had to happen that way. Everyone has to pay for their actions, even if it isn't want the readers want. Heather knows what she is doing when she is writing this book.
There is a new side to Alex that I don't think that I could have imagined. Sam is in for a battle, but who is going to be there to protect her? There is also a surprise that I didn't see coming.
Heather sure knows how to keep a reader interested in reading her books. I don't know why you haven't started this series yet, but you are missing out!!
